Hello

I have used Devicescape for a while now with no problem.  However recentlly for some reason (last 3 or 4 days) when i try to connect to my fon spot i get the logging in dialog box but then it says login failed?

Does anyone have any ideas, ive not changed my logon details for fon and i rebooted the router to make sure it wasnt that?

Thanks

John

i've got the same problem with fon and my e51. fon changed their logon-screen for mobiles so the devicescape client cannot login anymore. i hope the devicescape team will fix this soon.

Hello,

We're working with our friends at FON on a fix. Interestingly, it is only affecting some device types. At present, we know the problem exists for Nokia S60, Windows Mobile and Mac OS X laptops. iPhones and iPod touches are not affected.

Will let you know as soon as it is back.

Is there any update on the FON situation? I tried to login on my N95 and the problem reported above still exists.

Hello,

Sorry, no update so far other than it is being looked into by the folks at FON at the moment.

Hello,

The last I heard from them was that they were looking into the problem. Will see if I can get an update.

Could this be something to do with FON using a new landing page that detects compact devices?

Hello,

Yes, it is related to that, but not directly to do with the login page as we don't use the HTML forms for FON (they support a smartclient login protocol). The problem is that they are redirecting the credential POST to the mobile landing page, rather than processing the information we sent them. Oddly, they're not doing it for the iPhone/iPod platforms, but they are catching the Mac laptops as well as the Nokia and Windows Mobile platforms.

Hello Devicescape-Team!

Any news about the Fon-Problem? It's very annoying, that it doesn't work since November!

Dear John,

Please don't miss to checkup the compatibility of old-FON routers like fon0.6.6 on Linksys or Buffalos.
As far as I know, they have no dual SSID, and their captive portal code is not same as that of La Foneras.
Unfortunatelly FON seems that they don't care the Linksys-FON or Buffalo-FON users any more.

Actually I've got two old FONs (each Linksys and Buffalo), and 3 La Foneras (two different models). And the old codes of Linksys-FON/Buffalo-FON works slightly different from that or La Foneras.

regards,

Juno

Hello,

Please be assured that we are still working to restore FON login functionality for non iPhone clients and will let you know as soon as it's working again.

FON has made a change to the mobile portal code again... Family&Friends logins are enabled
perhaps they also fixed the Wispr part as well in thesame bug ticket?

Could someone retest it ?

If you tell FON you are using a linksys/buffalo...they rather send you a Fonera for free then to keep supporting the Linksys/Buffallo; you can then install eg Tomato or Gargoyle on these devices and put La Fonera on one of the 4 free ports :-)

Hello folks,

FON logins are now working from my N95 again. Please let us know if you are still experiencing problems on any other platform and we'll look into it.
